The Prayer Shawl Ministry is an
ecumenical group open to one and all.  It meets on the last Monday
of the month from September through June at 7:00 P.M. in the parlor
at First Church.  Anyone wishing to share in this ministry is
welcome and they need not be proficient in knitting or crocheting.
If individuals are unable to attend the meetings but would like to
knit or crochet Prayer Shawls, their contributions are most
			welcome.

Prayer Shawls are blessed on the first
Sunday of the month, Communion Sunday.  Under the leadership of Rev.
Frank Groggett, the congregation participates in the blessing.

The purpose of the ministry is to offer healing and comfort to those
dealing with loss, illness, end of life issues or going through a
difficult life changing experience such as the loss of a job or
divorce. The Prayer Shawls are for anyone who needs comfort for
			whatever reason.

There is a yarn chest open to anyone
wishing to make use of this resource.  Donations of yarn (3-4
skeins) or monetary donations to purchase yarn are always welcome.

As of June 2011, over 210 Prayer Shawls
have been gifted to individuals and local nursing homes.
